Message from Chief Brown
A lot has changed in the fire service since Slater Marietta Fire Department began in 1958. Today we operate a combination department consisting of a full-time Fire Chief, a part-time Deputy Chief, three full-time firefighters/EMTs, and 30 part-time/ volunteer firefighters.
The department relies heavily on its volunteers, which consists of men and women from all walks of life who want to serve their community and protect the lives and property of the citizens of the Slater Marietta Fire District, which consists of over 60 square miles.
The difference now is that we are living in a complex world where we must be proactive and not reactive. Today’s firefighters and EMTs must be highly trained and prepared to handle today’s complex emergencies.
